Mmd began working in Kazakhstan in September 2002, mostly on large-scale infrastructure projects. Mmd Kazakhstan is an important, strategic addition to our CIS portfolio of offices and we now have permanent representation in both the capital, Astana, and the country’s principal commercial centre, Almaty. Our Kazakh presence is through two Mmd satellite offices which have their own successful domestic businesses and which dove-tail into Mmd's CIS and wholly-owned networks.
We are structured to handle both Kazakh media relations – including in the regions – and high-level Government relations and public affairs. We advise foreign multi-nationals who are entering the Kazakh market, or which have strategic issues management assignments in country; as well as advise Kazakh entities that have international communications needs. Our experience in the latter area includes our ‘hubbing’ global campaigns through Mmd's own offices, such as Moscow – where many of the international media correspondents who cover the CIS remain based, especially in broadcast media – and our coordinating the Kazakh end of global communications programs with our international partners. Our global partnerships allow us to help Kazakh clients build a chain of ‘best-of-breed’ advisors in public affairs, media relations and investor relations, accessing markets around the world.
Stakeholder Audits
For both Eurasian and Western clients we have extensive experience, across Eurasia, of carrying out stakeholder and political perception audits encompassing Government, regional and local officials, other politicians, peer group businessmen, trade bodies, media, academics and other opinion formers. These audits can vary from 'Elitny' one-to-one interviews, through to Western-style focus groups and one-to-one telephone polling: we do this in-house and do not sub-contract it. We have carried our major, highly discreet and successful audit projects for major international companies and Russian financial-industrial groups including in the Oil & Gas, banking, Electricity, Telecoms and Infrastructure investment spheres.
Training programs
Mmd has developed specific training programs, which can be offered in local language by our in-house team to cover core communications functions. These include:
* Media relations and presentation training for Chief Executives and Board members (with video playback and practice interviews with senior, discreet journalist)
* Media relations for in-house PR departments; a master-class (with video exercises and a real-time situation 'fire-drill')
* Crisis management training: a 2-3 day training program for senior executives and heads of communications: on crisis management techniques, crisis media relations and a full-day 'fire-drill' of training using real-life, individualized examples, with actors and video play-back to maximize the acute value of the training experience.
Our training packages are well-respected and have been used, across the Eurasia, by some of the world's largest multi-national companies, for whom we are also on stand-by for crisis PR advice.
